Polonnaruwa

Context

The second most ancient Sri Lanka Kingdom in north central province. 

The ancient city of Polonnaruwa has been declared as a world heritage site by UNESCO. 

The DCS study shows the highest population vulnerable to poverty is from Polonnaruwa district, at 19.8 percent, while Colombo district shows the lowest rate of 3.4 percent

Enthnography of the area is 70% of Sinhalaese, 29% of Islam, 0.85% of Sri Lankan Tamils and 0.10 of Indian Tamils. Farming is one of the main income generation activities. 

Polonnaruwa is a strong sinhala buddhist hotbed of the country.
